Shapefiles contain a single class of 'vector' data such as points, lines, or polygons. It can be imported to most other GIS programs. This is a commonly used format that can be directly used in Arc-anything, DIVA-GIS, and many other programs.
Promote awareness of the benefits of GIS in Shasta County. Each 'shapefile' consist of at least three actual files. Our mission is to serve the public, to share information, ideas, strategies, and solutions regarding the management and dissemination of GIS and related technologies in order to provide more efficient and effective service to the public and the employees of Shasta County.
